Community Colleges Pathways to Medicine Program Begins
Students interested in pursuing a career in medical, nursing, and other healthcare-related occupations can attend a free program February 11 put on by Lincoln Trail College and the SIU School of Medicine.
“Many students are interested in medical and health-related professions,” says Lincoln Trail College Dean of Instruction Brent Todd. “With that said, some are unfamiliar with the application processes and procedures. The idea with the Community College Pathways to Medicine program is to help students better understand what they need to do to get into healthcare.”

Gower to be Recognized with Paragon Award
Lincoln Trail College President Dr. Ryan Gower is one of just 28 college presidents that will be recognized with Phi Theta Kappa’s Paragon Award for New Presidents. Gower will be presented with the award during PTK Catalyst, the honor society’s annual convention, April 2-4 in the Greater Dallas Area in Texas.

LTC Announces Cast for Matilda
Tara Gallion has announced the cast for Lincoln Trail College’s 2020 spring production, Matilda. Inspired by the twisted genius of author Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning musical “revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life.”

LTC Releases Fall 2019 Honors
Lincoln Trail College has released its academic honor lists for the Fall 2019 Semester. Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence. They are the Chief Executive Officer’s Academic Honors List, the President’s Academic Honors List and the Dean’s Academic Honors List.
To qualify for any of the honor lists, a student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) and must be taking college-level classes.

LTC Recognizes Crawford County's Top Scholars
Lincoln Trail College recognized the top scholars in Crawford County at the 2020 Crawford County Award for Excellence reception on January 30. The students and their families were invited to Lincoln Trail College to receive the CCAE Scholarship, which is awarded to the top ten percent of the graduating class at each Crawford County high school. The award is LTC’s highest-level award that is given to prospective students.

LTC offering vegetarian diet program
Lincoln Trail College and the University of Illinois Extension will continue their Nutrition Series at LTC with a free program on vegetarian diets on February 11.
The program will give people a chance to learn more about a vegetarian diet and also give people the chance to learn about meatless meals. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a well-planned vegetarian diet is a healthy and nutritionally adequate diet. The program will define different types of vegetarian diets and cover nutritional concerns.

LTC Offering Crochet Class
Lincoln Trail College is offering a class that will help you learn how to crochet. The crochet class begins on February 12.
The class will serve as an introduction to crochet for beginners, but will also give a review of basic techniques for people that are looking for a refresher on how to crochet.
The class will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at Lincoln Trail College. The cost of the class is $35. People can register for Crochet by calling 618-544-8657.

LTC offering Singing Valentines
Singers from Lincoln Trail College’s music department will perform Singing Valentines on Friday, Feb. 14 to raise money in support of the performing arts.
Area recipients will receive a special song and a rose from the vocal ensemble under the direction of Rebecca Carmack.

LTC Student Athletes Combine for 3.13 GPA
Robinson, Ill. – Lincoln Trail College student-athletes have combined for a GPA above 3.0 for the 12th consecutive semester. In the Fall 2019 Semester, the department had a combined GPA of 3.13.
“I’m very proud of the performance of our student-athletes in the classroom,” said Athletic Director Kevin Bowers. “This is the mark that we strive for each semester as coaches and we know that our students take note of that.”
