After You Apply

Once your FAFSA is processed, you will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary from the Department of Education; the college(s) you selected will receive the results in the form of an electronic Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR). In compliance with Federal Regulations, the Financial Aid Office must have received a processed ISIR from the Department of Education by the student’s last day of enrollment in the current award year to determine if a disbursement of FSA funds can be made.

When the school receives the ISIR, this prompts each student to be mailed a letter from the Financial Aid Office requiring student follow up. This letter will detail the instructions of where to find the forms to complete in Entrata. Students can view more details about each required form there as well. Click on one of the following device options for instructions on completing your required Financial Aid forms:    Personal Computer               Phone or Tablet

Each student will be required to review and accept the Financial Aid Terms and Conditions by logging into their MyIECC account and navigating to the Financial Aid requirements for the current aid year.

Some applicants will be selected for verification by the Department of Education (or IECC) and will be required to submit additional documents to complete the eligibility determination process. Verification is the process of reviewing the accuracy of the information provided on the FAFSA.

If you are selected for verification and you were unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when you completed the FAFSA application, you may need to obtain an IRS Tax Return Transcript or a Verification of Non-Filing form. The Financial Aid Office will advise if one of these documents is needed.

Aid will not be awarded to applicants that have been selected for verification until all required documentation has been submitted and reviewed.

Students interested in a Direct Student Loan will need to complete a Student Loan Request Form. All requested information should be submitted as soon as possible to avoid processing delays.

Students interested in a Federal Work Study position should complete a Work Study Application form to begin the employment process. Students must have unmet need in order to be considered for employment.

After all documents are received and satisfied, the college will package and award aid to the student, notifying him/her via a Personalized Aid Letter. The student’s financial aid will be delivered based on the disbursement schedule on the student’s award notice.

Students whose authorized financial aid funds exceed the balance owed to the institution AND that have received an award notice from an IECC school at least 10 days before the beginning of the semester will be guaranteed a book voucher no later than 7 days after the first day of the semester. Students will need to speak with a representative of the Business Office to print the book voucher.

The FAFSA uses a standardized formula for all when determining eligibility for Title IV financial aid. There are circumstances, however, where adjustments are warranted due to changes in a student's/family's income and/or expenses. On a case-by-case basis, the Financial Aid Office will review these instances upon a student's request. Review the special circumstances page for more information and deadlines.
