Girls, get ready to spark some creativity and light up your summer with our welding camp! At this camp, you'll learn all about welding safety and how a Mig Welder works. You'll get to put on your safety gear and dive into the exciting world of welding. Our experienced instructors will guide you in every step of the way. By the end of the day, you'll have a finished project that you can proudly show off to your family and friends. The day will conclude with a lunch sponsored by our Welding Department. Please make sure to dress appropriately for welding. You will need to wear jeans, a T-shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toed shoes (boots are best) and safety glasses, if you have them.

Pathways to Healthcare • June 9, 2025 • 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. • $30

Pathways to Healthcare Camp is an exciting, hands-on day designed for high school students to explore careers in healthcare. In the morning, you'll dive into emergency medicine and EMS, try out real-life skills like triage and patient care, and work through a simulated mass casualty event. Lunch will be provided and is sponsored by the Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC). After lunch, you'll follow a patient case and rotate through stations like primary care, lab testing, radiology, and physical therapy—getting a feel for what each job is really like. You'll finish the day by connecting everything you’ve learned and discovering the many paths you can take in the healthcare field.

In this playful, hands-on camp, students step into real medical roles while treating a plush pal diagnosed with “Fluff Deficiency Syndrome.” From taking vital signs and running mock lab tests, to assisting in X-rays, surgery, and even physical therapy, participants explore careers in nursing, medical lab tech, radiology, and more. It’s a lighthearted way to learn serious skills—no fluffing around! Camp includes the cost of the students very own take-home plush-pal patient.

Yikes, Parasites! Gross Pathology and Medical Lab Science • July 30, 2025 • 9 a.m.-2 p.m. • $25

Don your lab coats and gloves; this might get messy. This camp will expose high school students interested in science to the medical laboratory techniques of parasitology and microbiology, blood typing and transfusion cross matching, urinalysis, hematology, and gross pathology and anatomy with autopsy, as they work to solve 10 patient cases. Lunch will be included.

Get ready to spark some creativity and light up your summer with our welding camp! At this camp, you'll learn all about welding safety and how a Mig Welder works. You'll get to put on your safety gear and dive into the exciting world of welding. Our experienced instructors will guide you in every step of the way. By the end of the day, you'll have a finished project that you can proudly show off to your family and friends. This camp is located at our Terry L. Bruce West Richland Center in Noble. Students should check in at the WRC and not at OCC. Please make sure to dress appropriately for welding. You will need to wear jeans, a T-shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toed shoes (boots are best) and safety glasses, if you have them.
