FCC Nursing Students Presented with Scholarships

Forbes Ranks FCC a Top 25 Two-Year Trade School
In a report published by Forbes on August 16, Frontier Community College (FCC) was ranked the 15th best two-year trade school in the nation.  Written by Carter Coudriet of Forbes Staff, the report is titled “The Top 25 Two-Year Trade Schools: Colleges That Can Solve The Skills Gap” and has been published on Forbes’ website. Unlike the well-known Forbes Top Colleges list, which names four-year public and private universities, the Top 25 Two-Year Trade Schools list includes technical and career colleges that provide programs to cover a large variety of in-demand jobs.

LTC Offering Family Caregiver Series
Lincoln Trail College will offer a series of classes in March that will help people learn how to better take care of their elderly loved ones. The Family Caregiver series begins March 10, 2020 with a class on caring for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease. The second class is March 17 and will offer tips on post-surgery care. The final class in the series is March 24 and covers household safety tips for seniors and stroke survivors.

LTC Offering Chicken Basics Class
More people are raising their own chickens and Lincoln Trail College is offering a class that will help you get started with your own backyard flock. Chicken Basics will be held March 11, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. Instructor Carrie Brown will give students an introduction to raising chickens. She’ll cover building your own brooder, purchasing or incubating your eggs and chicks, raising chicks, diseases, and feeding your flock. The cost of the Chicken Basics class is $25, and students can register by calling 618-544-8657.

LTC Offering Class on Super Foods
Lincoln Trail College and the University of Illinois Extension will continue their Nutrition Series at LTC with a free program on super foods on March 11, 2020. The program will give people a chance to learn more about a vegetarian diet and also give people the chance to learn about the research behind super foods and what gives them that “super” quality.

LTC Offering Spanish for Kids Class
Your child will get a chance to begin learning a second language in Lincoln Trail College’s Spanish for Kids class. The four-week long program begins March 12, 2020 and meets from 6-7 p.m. on Thursdays. Children will learn some of the basic concepts of the Spanish language, including greetings and expressions of courtesy, the alphabet, numbers, colors, animals, and human body parts. Children will also learn cultural facts about many Latin American countries.

LTC Offering CPR Class
Lincoln Trail College will offer a CPR class for the community on March 14, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Students will learn how to provide CPR to an adult, child or infant and how to use an automated external defibrillator. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a CPR card through the American Heart Association. The cost of the class is $35, and students can register for the class by calling 618-544-8657.
