Resource Support

At IECC, Financial Aid staff also serve as Student Benefits Navigators and HOUSE Liaisons, providing students with personalized support beyond traditional financial aid services.

Student Benefits Navigator Role

In their Student Benefits Navigator role, Financial Aid staff help students connect with a wide range of resources for which they may qualify—such as food assistance, housing support, scholarships, and more.

Students whose first language is not English may also benefit from the additional guidance Navigators can provide.

Students are encouraged to reach out to their Navigator for help securing services and resources offered by IECC, as well as those available through federal, state, and local agencies.

HOUSE Liaison Role

In their HOUSE Liaison role, Financial Aid staff assist students who may be experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. This initiative ensures that students facing these challenges receive compassionate support and guidance.

We are here for you. Let’s help you get what you need.
Housing insecurity and homelessness create significant barriers to success. Many students work hard to stay on track academically while facing uncertainty about where they will sleep at night. No student should navigate this alone.

In accordance with the Higher Education Housing and Opportunities Act (Illinois’ Public Act 102-0083), IECC provides trained, experienced staff to support students in these circumstances and help them continue pursuing their education.

Students experiencing homelessness are encouraged to speak with their campus Financial Aid Office for assistance.

Additional information on federal financial aid for homeless youth is available at: https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/filling-out/homeless

Students are encouraged to contact their campus Financial Aid Office to discuss their individual circumstances.
