Lincoln Trail College Spring 2023 Academic Honors
Lincoln Trail College has released its academic honor lists for the Spring 2023 Semester. Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence. They are the Chancellor’s Honors List, the President’s Academic Honors List, and the Dean’s Academic Honors List.   To qualify for any of the honor lists, a student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) and must be taking college-level classes.

LTC Student Aids Other Universities Through University Blockchain Alliance
Lincoln Trail College student Nicholas Harness ('23) has a passion for blockchain and Web3 and that passion has led to him being an instrumental figure in the movement on campuses around the world. He’s the founder of the University Blockchain Alliance, an organization with the goal of making the blockchain space more accessible to students.

McCarty Joins LTC As A Music Instructor
Dr. John McCarty is joining Lincoln Trail College as a Music Instructor. He comes to LTC from Elon University in North Carolina, where he taught in the music theatre program.

LTC Alumnus Returns As Social Science Instructor
A Lincoln Trail College alumnus is returning to his alma mater to serve as a Social Science Instructor. Austin Alexander received an Associate in Science Degree in 2010 and an Associate of Science and Arts Degree in 2011.    “I am excited that my career path is going full circle,” said Alexander. “I started my college path at Lincoln Trail College and now I have the opportunity to give back to the school community where my path started.”

Olney Central College held its 59th Commencement Ceremony on May 13, awarding more than 300 degrees and certificates. Graduates names are listed in the Commencement Program.

Early Childhood Education Classes Added for Fall 2023
Olney Central College has added new Early Childhood Education classes for Fall 2023. ECD 1202 Childhood Teaching Techniques I will be offered from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. on Wednesdays and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. ECD 1203 Health & Safety of Children will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. ECD 1206 Developments in Early Childhood also will meet this fall, with dates and times to be determined. Instructors are Tina Staley and Kayla Reynolds.

OCC 59th Commencement May 12
Olney Central College’s 59th commencement exercises will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12 in the OCC Gymnasium. Friends and relatives of the graduates are invited to attend. OCC Interim President Roger Eddy will give the welcoming remarks and Dean of Instruction Dr.  Mike Conn will present candidates for degrees and certificates. Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees Member Brenda Culver will confer the more than 360 degrees and certificates being awarded this year. She also will give the “Charge to the Class.”

Free Cooking Class
Wabash Valley College is excited to offer a free cooking class series to the local community. These classes will teach participants new cooking techniques, safe food handling, and creative tips for preparing food in new ways. The classes will also focus on the importance of incorporating nutritious, affordable, and kid-friendly meals into daily diets.   Classes will be held at the First Baptist Church, located at 130 West 6th Street in Mount Carmel, IL. Participants can register by May 17th by calling 618-262-8641 to enroll in the FREE course.

Wabash Valley College is pleased to announce its upcoming Commencement Ceremony, which will be held on May 12th, 2023, at 7:00 PM. The ceremony is a significant milestone for our graduates, as they embark on new journeys and exciting opportunities. It is also an occasion to recognize their achievements and hard work, and to celebrate with family, friends, and the community.

Summer of Art
Wabash Valley College is proud to announce its Summer of Art program, an exciting and immersive summer arts experience for people of all ages. With music, drama, and art programs, there is something for everyone.   To kick off the Summer of Art program, there will be a viewing party for the movie “Adventures of Tom Sawyer” on May 1st in Main Hall 101. Attendees are encouraged to bring a snack and enjoy the film.
