A group of sport management students poses outside the Official Cardinals Team Store during a field trip to Busch Stadium. The students stand together on the sidewalk in front of the brick stadium building and green awnings with the Cardinals logo. Some wear Cardinals or other baseball-themed shirts and caps, while others wear casual clothes. The group photo captures the students gathered closely together during the visit. A group of sport management students stands in the seating area at the United Center during a field trip. The arena’s ice surface is lit with colorful graphics, and the scoreboard and ribbon boards display St. Patrick’s Day-themed messages. Rows of red seats, the rink, arena signage and scattered spectators are visible behind the students. A marketing instructor stands behind two students as they work on laptops in a classroom. One student looks at his screen thoughtfully while another types beside him. A world map, classroom decorations and another student working at a computer are visible in the background, suggesting a hands-on marketing or business class activity.

Transfer Pathway
Sport Management

This pathway is designed to transfer. You complete your first two years at IECC, then finish a bachelor’s degree at a four-year university — so the career outcomes below sit on the far side of that degree, and associate-level wage data would understate them.

What You’ll Study

Business, marketing, and communication coursework applied to athletics, recreation, and the sport industry.

Where It Leads After the Bachelor’s

  • Athletic administrator
  • Facility & event manager
  • Sport marketing coordinator
  • Recreation program director
  • Team operations staff

Role examples are typical of the field rather than IECC-specific — an advisor can map this pathway to the four-year program you have in mind.
