Olney Central College is introducing new cutting-edge technology to its anatomy lab with the addition of an Anatomage Table. The life-sized, 3D interactive device, enables students to perform virtual dissection. With the swipe of a finger, students can peel back layers of the digitally created body, exposing muscles, organs and bones. Students can even watch the heart beating as blood flows through the circulatory system.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 7 for the Olney Central College Theatre’s production of “Mamma Mia!,” sponsored by TrustBank. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26. Afternoon shows will begin at 2 p.m. on March 20 and 27. Registration Information Protect Illinois waterways by becoming a RiverWatch Citizen Scientist. The National Great Rivers Research and Education Center will host an Illinois RiverWatch Training Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at Olney Central College.

Olney Central College and Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Business and Industry are partnering to offer occupational safety courses to assist individuals in completing their OSHA 10-Hour certification. Instructor Ted Marshall said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration classes are designed for general industries including manufacturing, welding, retail and health care facilities.

Olney Central College’s Massage Therapy Program is accepting appointments for Spring clinicals. The clinics are open to the public and will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 19 and April 2 at the West Richland Center in Noble. The cost for a relaxing massage is $30 for an hour and $20 for half an hour. A 20-minute chair massage is $15.

Olney Central College is offering MTH 1103 Liberal Arts Math as an 8-week Mid-Semester course. In this hybrid course, most of the homework and exams will be online, while instruction will take place face to face.  This course meets the math requirement for graduation. Students should consult their advisors as they may need to take a placement exam. Liberal Arts Math will meet from 8 to 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday beginning March 15. Mid-semester courses are ideal for students who may have dropped a course this spring or for those who need an additional class to graduate. Olney Central College is now offering free community COVID-19 testing through Shield Illinois. Testing will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the OCC Student Union.

Frontier Community, Lincoln Trail, Olney Central, and Wabash Valley colleges are preparing to award a second round of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges’ Student Success Scholarships. IECC allocated nearly $180,000 in aid to area high school students in November. The Spring Priority Deadline is February 25. Students can go to www.iecc.edu/priority to begin the application process. Awards will be announced in mid-March.
