Behind-the-Wheel Only

  • Dates: September 29 - October 24, 2025
  • Details: 6 hours of required drive time
  • Schedule: Flexible - coordinated between student and instructor
  • Requirements:
    • Must provide proof of successful completion of 30 hours in-class drivers education
    • Must have a valid driver's permit
    • Must have proof/log of minimum 10 hours of driving
  • Schedule Note: Drive times scheduled in groups of 2-3 students

IECC Driver's Ed Program

Fall 2025 Sessions Available

We offer multiple Fall 2025 sessions with convenient afternoon and evening scheduling options. Please see our session cards for specific dates and registration details.

NEW Fall Sessions:

  • Afternoon Session: September 2-25, 2025 (Mon-Thu) | 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Evening Session: September 2-25, 2025 (Mon-Thu) | 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Behind-the-Wheel Training: September 29 - October 24, 2025

Also Available: Our Behind-the-Wheel Only option continues to be available for students who have already completed the Driver's Ed classroom portion at another school. This program provides the 6 hours of required drive time with flexible scheduling options.

Requirements & Information

Prior to the First Day of Class:

  1. Payment of the full course fee, $400, is due before classes begin. Payments may be made by:
    • Mailing a check to 305 N. West St., Olney, IL 62450
    • Paying at the Cashier at Olney Central College
    • Calling 618-395-7777 to pay by credit card (speak with Kim or Hayley)
    • Bringing cash or check with your student on the first day of class
  2. Proof of age must be provided to R. Mark Ambrose by mail, in-person, or e-mailed to ambroser@iecc.edu. Students must be 15 no later than September 29, 2025.
  3. Complete one of the following forms:
    • Driver Education Approval Form – For students enrolled in a public or private high school (provides verification the student is enrolled and has received a passing grade in at least 8 courses during the previous 2 semesters)
    • Home Schooled Parental Consent Form – For students enrolled in a home school program or cooperative
  4. Completion of Driver Education Single Driver Permission Slip. This form provides permission to allow for training sessions to continue if another student is unable to attend a scheduled session.

Prior to Beginning Behind-the-Wheel Training:

  • Valid learner's permit issued by the Illinois Secretary of State
  • Minimum of 10 hours behind-the-wheel practice (20 hours recommended) documented in Illinois Secretary of State log

Attendance Policy:

Attendance is mandatory. Students are only allowed two absences before being required to register for the next available session with no refunds. Each class consists of a 2-hour in-person instructional classroom session and students must stay the entire time. Leaving early or coming in late is not allowed.
