About this pathway
The Computer Science transfer pathway, leading to the Associate in Science and Arts degree, is designed for students who plan to complete foundational coursework at IECC before transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related computing discipline. The program prepares students to study the theory, design, and application of computing systems and the algorithms and data structures that drive modern software. Coursework introduces students to programming, data structures, computer organization, and the mathematics that supports computing, while developing problem-solving and analytical skills. Topics of study include programming and software development, data structures and algorithms, computer systems and architecture, discrete mathematics, and database fundamentals. Graduates who complete a bachelor's degree will have the potential for employment as software developers, systems analysts, database administrators, network and cybersecurity specialists, web and application developers, or information technology professionals in business, government, and industry.
