About this pathway
The Art transfer pathway, leading to the Associate in Science and Arts degree, is designed for students who plan to complete foundational coursework at IECC before transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree in art, studio art, or art education. The program introduces students to the visual arts through a balanced combination of studio practice, art history, and critical inquiry. Students perform a variety of creative activities intended to develop their technical skills, conceptual thinking, and personal artistic voice while building the portfolio needed for upper-division study. Topics of study include drawing, design fundamentals, two- and three-dimensional studio work, photography, art history, and other visual communications media. Graduates who complete a bachelor's degree will have the potential for employment as studio artists, illustrators, photographers, gallery and museum professionals, art educators, or creative professionals in design and visual communication fields.
