Music Auditions

Lincoln Trail College has a vibrant arts department that includes theatre, instrumental music, and vocal music. Our music scholarships are available to any full-time LTC student, regardless of whether that student wants to pursue music as their major.

Audition Dates: Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 12:30-3:30 and Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 12:00-3:00
 
Audition Location: Lackey Music Hall on the campus of Lincoln Trail College

What to prepare for your audition:

Below are instructions on what to prepare for your individual scholarship audition.
 
If possible, please email a copy of your prepared song to Dr. John McCarty by the Friday before your audition date. If that is not possible, please bring an additional copy of your song with you on your audition day.
 
Your audition songs do not have to be memorized.
 
If you need help finding a song to perform for your audition, please email Dr. John McCarty.
 
Instrumentalists:
1) Prepare one piece in any style (it can be a solo or an excerpt from a piece that you are playing in an ensemble).
2) Play one major scale of your choice over two octaves.
 
Singers:
1) Prepare one piece in any style, in any language.
2) Vocal exercises led by Dr. McCarty
 
For students who are able to read music, a short sight-reading exercise may be a part of the audition.
