About this pathway

The Music transfer pathway, leading to the Associate in Science and Arts degree, is designed for students who plan to complete foundational coursework at IECC before transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree in music. The program prepares students to study music as a performing art and an academic discipline through a balanced program of theory, history, performance, and ensemble experience. Coursework introduces students to music theory, ear training, music history, applied lessons, and ensemble performance, while developing the technical and expressive skills required for upper-division study. Topics of study include music theory and aural skills, music history and literature, applied study on a primary instrument or voice, and participation in vocal and instrumental ensembles. Graduates who complete a bachelor's degree will have the potential for employment as music educators, performers, church and worship musicians, music therapists, music business professionals, recording and production specialists, or candidates for graduate study in performance, conducting, composition, and music education.
