At the beginning of the application, you will be prompted to create a Save Key. This is a temporary password that will come in handy to return should you have to save the FAFSA without finishing.
Make sure the information you are entering is for the correct party. There will be a flag indicator on each screen for the student or parent.
If eligible, complete your income information using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.
After You Apply
Within 48-72 hours, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) online via email. Within 3-5 days, each institution you selected will receive an Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR).
Submit your admissions application to the school(s) you are interested in by October 29th for consideration of institutional funding.
In mid-November, IECC will send you an early Financial Aid Estimate.
In early April, be sure to submit your Financial Aid forms to receive information regarding your eligibility in a timely manner.
Planning to Borrow?
If you plan to borrow a Federal Direct Loan, log in to studentaid.gov. Under the Complete Aid Process, navigate to Complete Entrance Counseling and complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN). Parents wishing to borrow a PLUS loan should Apply for a Parent PLUS Loan under Apply For Aid and complete the MPN for Parents under Complete Aid Process.
