Regional employment for machinists is higher than the national average according to data derived from official government sources such as the US Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics.

An average area of this size typically has 852 jobs, while the immediate area boasted double that number in 2019. This higher-than-average supply of jobs may make it easier for graduates in this field to find employment in our area.

Students of WVC's Gunsmithing program go on to work in a number of capacities— Gunsmith, Gunsmith Journeyman, Maintenance Machinist, Tool Room Machinist, Production Machinist, Manual Lathe Machinist, Machinist, Set-Up Operator, Set-Up Machinist. Graduates of the program are hired by a variety of employers:

• Firearms manufacturers
• Law enforcement agencies
• Retail - Outdoor Outfitters
• Specialist in custom-built firearms
• Factory service representative
• Owner/operator of a gun shop
• Ammunition manufacturers
• Military and law enforcement armories

Graduates have also been placed with companies such as Les Baer Custom Firearms, Red Jacket Firearms, and White Oak Armaments.
