Register Now! Mid-Semester Classes Start Oct. 16
Olney Central College is offering several fall mid-semester classes starting Oct. 16.
Mid-semester courses are ideal for students who may have dropped a class this fall or for those who want to complete a course in just 8 weeks.
Students looking to earn a humanities credit will have the opportunity to enroll in ART 1141 Cinema Appreciation with Instructor Heather Sandy. This is the first time the course has been offered in an 8-week format.

IECC Urges Student to Apply by Priority Deadline and Fill Out FAFSA
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Chancellor Dr. Ryan Gower is encouraging prospective students to apply to Frontier Community College, Lincoln Trail College, Olney Central College, or Wabash Valley College before October 30. Students that apply before the priority deadline will be first in line for scholarships offered by each of the four colleges.

New company takes over managing WVC’s Red Café
Mt. Carmel, Ill.— Wabash Valley College is excited to announce that it has entered into a partnership with Manish Malhotra, who owns the company MRM3 LLC which operates several Wings Etc. and Arby’s locations.
Malhotra is leasing the Red Café and started serving WVC’s students and community on Monday, Sept. 21.

Wabash Valley College bass team signs Lane Bradley of Newton
Mount Carmel, Ill.— Wabash Valley College's bass coach, Professor Todd Gill, is excited to announce the signing of Lane Bradley for the 2021–2022 collegiate bass season. Bradley signed on Wednesday evening, Sept. 23.
Lane is the son of Chris and LeAnn Bradley of Newton, Ill. He is a senior at Newton High School and will be competing this coming season with the Newton bass team for the fourth straight season. Lane has been Angler of the Year for three years in high school and has two top-ten finishes with the Illinois Bass Nation High School Division.

Free GED test prep classes to be offered at Wabash Valley College
Mt. Carmel, Ill.— Wabash Valley College is pleased to announce it will be offering free GED test prep classes. This class includes tutoring, instruction and materials, and it’s all free!
The classes will be offered from Oct. 20 to Dec. 17 and there will be two different class slots to choose from. One class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and the other class will meet from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Both will meet in Main Hall Rm. 205 at Wabash Valley College.

WVC bass warriors off to good start
Vandalia, Ill.— Two weeks into its inaugural season, the Wabash Valley College bass fishing club team is making a name for itself in the Association of Collegiate Anglers.
Saturday, the tandem of Drew Gill and Clayton Halbig finished in seventh place out of 36 boats in the McKendree University Invitational on Vandalia Lake. The event was added to the schedule only recently and five of the 14 Warrior fishermen were entered.

WVC seeking applicants for Phyllis J. Schucker Memorial Scholarship
Mt. Carmel, Ill.— Wabash Valley College is now seeking applicants for the Phyllis J. Schucker Memorial Scholarship.
The Phyllis J. Schucker Memorial Scholarship is a one-time scholarship, established out of love and respect for Phyllis. The memorial scholarship was set up by Phyllis’s niece Rayna Kaasa and her husband Dave Kaasa. They knew how much Chapter FK of the Philanthropic Educational Organization and education meant to Phyllis and wanted to honor her memory in this way.

WVC bass team signs Jason Mendenhall of Carmi
Mt. Carmel, Ill.— Wabash Valley College's bass coach, Professor Todd Gill, is excited to announce the signing of Jason Mendenhall for the 2021–2022 collegiate bass season. Mendenhall signed on Wednesday evening, Sept. 9.
Jason is the son of Jeff and Angela Mendenhall of Carmi, Illinois. He is a senior at Carmi-White County High School and will be competing this coming season with the Carmi bass team for the third straight season.

LTC Offering Community CPR Class
Lincoln Trail College will offer a CPR class for the community on October 3 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
Students will learn how to provide CPR to an adult, child or infant and how to use an automated external defibrillator. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a CPR card through the American Heart Association.
The cost of the class is $35, and students can register for the class by calling 618-544-8657.
