Home Electrical Wiring Class Begins January 11
Olney Central College is offering a spring semester course that can help you complete wiring projects around the house including changing outlets, replacing switches and installing new lights.
TRA 1221 Electrical Wiring addresses various electrical circuits found in the home as well as low-voltage circuits, cable connections, networking and doorbells. Students will learn to identify electrical outlet symbols used in the plans of a single-family dwelling as well as how to identify the grounded and ungrounded conductors in cable or conduit.

LTC Breaks Ground on Theater Expansion
Lincoln Trail College broke ground on an addition to the Zwermann Arts Center at a ceremony on December 1.
“This is obviously a very, very momentous, important occasion for Lincoln Trail College,” said Interim President Roger Eddy in his opening remarks.

Open Studio Art Class Starts January 12
If you are interested in exploring one or multiple artistic media, local artist Mari Yamato invites you to join the Open Studio Art Class she will be teaching this spring at Olney Central College.
“The class provides the studio space for students to explore a specific area they are interested in,” Yamato said. “This is a great class for students who want to work in a specific media that is not offered as another class or if they want to work in mixed media.”

Groundbreaking Planned for LTC Theater Project
Lincoln Trail College will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Theater Renaissance project on December 1 at 11 a.m.
“We’re very excited about this project,” says Director of Marketing Chris Forde. “This marks the first new construction on our campus since 1975.”

Perfect Pitch Looks to Raise Money to Enhance Theater Renaissance Project
As Lincoln Trail College’s Theater Renaissance project gets underway, a new committee is working to enhance the project.
Perfect Pitch is working to add state-of-the-art sound isolation practice rooms to the project. The practice rooms are already in the plans for the new building, but these practice rooms would enhance them by adding the sound dampening technology. It would allow students to practice and take lessons without the sounds of other students interfering.

LTC Launches Customer Service Management Microcertificate
Lincoln Trail College will begin offering a new microcertificate that will help train people to better serve customers in January of 2021. The new Customer Service Management program is available online and is open to LTC students and members of the community.
Customer Service Management focuses on customer service theories, communication, problem-solving, and resolving complaints among other topics. The idea behind the certificate is to give students the skills they need to provide quality customer service.

OCC Nursing Program Application Deadline February 16
Olney Central College is currently accepting applications for Fall 2021 entry into the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges/OCC Nursing Program.
Applicants must attend one of four informational meetings scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, Wednesday, Jan. 27, Thursday, Feb. 4 and Tuesday, Feb. 9. The meetings will be held in Wattleworth Hall Room 217.
Prospective students, who have already submitted their applications, should have received a letter regarding the mandatory meetings. Applicants who have not should contact Nursing Advisor Linda Horn.

Michael Conn Appointed to Illinois Arts Council
Olney Central College Dean of Instruction Michael Conn has been appointed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker to serve a four-year term on the Illinois Arts Council.
“I am happy to be involved in the administration of the arts community on a larger, statewide scale,” Conn said. “It is an interesting opportunity and it is good to have representation from our area. I hope to provide a voice for Southern Illinois to the current state of arts in Illinois and add value to this long-standing council.”
