In graphic design classes, students will review the textbook on a chapter-by-chapter basis and discuss the provided situation or problem.  Students will then utilize the 7-step design process to solve the problem and create a media project.  Students can also expect to work daily with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Absolutely! Students will develop their skill with the Adobe Creative Cloud programs, which are essential to a career in graphic design.  Local businesses may seek the help of GAD students for design work, and students also work with the FCC marketing department to occasionally create pieces for campus events. While enrolled in the program, you will also assemble a portfolio comprised of many projects.  Lastly, students are expected to complete a 150-hour internship with a local business.

No, and that’s one of the advantages of attending Frontier Community College!  We offer textbook rentals to our students, which provides even greater savings.  You’ll pick up your textbooks from our college bookstore at the start of each semester, and simply return them at the end of the semester.

Students will work daily with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.  While the suite offers approximately 20 programs, the curriculum focuses on a select few that are most essential to graphic design.  Students will work specifically with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Animate.

The Adobe Creative Cloud suite is installed on Mac computers in the GAD computer lab (located in Mason Hall), as well as two Mac computers in the Learning Resource Center. You may use these computers in your own time if they are not in use by another class or instructor.  Many of our students choose to purchase a subscription to Adobe while enrolled in the program so they may work on their projects at home.
