About this pathway
The Theatre transfer pathway, leading to the Associate in Science and Arts degree, is designed for students who plan to complete foundational coursework at IECC before transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree in theatre, drama, or performing arts. The program introduces students to the theatre as both a performing art and an academic discipline through a balanced combination of acting, technical theatre, dramatic literature, and performance experience. Coursework develops the creative, collaborative, and analytical skills required for upper-division study while giving students the stage experience needed to grow as performers and theatre artists. Topics of study include acting, voice and movement, stagecraft and technical theatre, theatre history, dramatic literature, and production participation. Graduates who complete a bachelor's degree will have the potential for employment as actors, directors, theatre educators, stage managers, technical theatre professionals, arts administrators, or theatre artists in regional, community, and educational theatre settings.
