About this pathway

The Broadcasting transfer pathway, leading to the Associate in Science and Arts degree, is designed for students who plan to complete foundational coursework at IECC before transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree in broadcasting, mass communication, or media studies. The program prepares students to write, produce, and deliver content across radio, television, and digital media platforms in an increasingly connected society. Coursework introduces students to broadcast writing and production, mass communication, and the social, ethical, and legal dimensions of media, while developing skills in on-air performance, digital production, and storytelling. Topics of study include broadcast writing and reporting, audio and video production, media law and ethics, mass communication theory, and emerging media technologies. Graduates who complete a bachelor's degree will have the potential for employment as broadcast journalists, radio and television announcers, producers, video and audio production specialists, podcast and streaming content creators, or media professionals in newsrooms, stations, and digital outlets.
