LTC Offering Spanish for Kids Class
Children can benefit from learning a language at an early age and Lincoln Trail College will give kids that opportunity this Fall. LTC is holding a Spanish for Kids class on Thursdays from September 24 through October 15 from 6-7 p.m. Spanish for Kids is designed for children and parents to experience together. The class will teach Spanish through interactive games, activities, and short songs. There will also be resources available to continue learning outside of class. Families that want to register for Spanish for Kids can call LTC at 618-544-8657.

LTC Offering Advanced Painting Class
People that want to improve their painting techniques can take Advanced Painting at Lincoln Trail College. The class will be held on Tuesday nights September 8 through October 13 from 6:30-9 p.m. Advanced Painting features a survey of painting techniques in all media with particular demonstrations of landscape in watercolor and acrylic and portrait in acrylic and oils. The class is appropriate for students with past painting experience. Supplies are included in the cost of the class. Students can register for Advanced Painting by calling Lincoln Trail College at 618-544-8657.

Lincoln Trail College is teaming up with the University of Illinois Extension to present a webinar on inflammation and arthritis. It takes place on September 3 from 12-1 p.m.

Lincoln Trail College has released its academic honor lists for the Spring 2020 Semester. Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence.

Lincoln Trail College Adds New Microcertificate Options
Lincoln Trail College is offering two new certificate options this fall that can be completed in as little as one semester. The microcertficates are in Special Events Management and Public Service Management and students will be able to take all of the courses online.

Lincoln Trail College Process Technology students have a new tool to help them prepare for their future careers. The new virtual outside operator program simulates working outside in a facility like a refinery.

Lincoln Trail College Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Earns Illinois Region Awards
Lincoln Trail College’s Alpha Iota Epsilon chapter of Phe Theta Kappa earned more awards. The chapter was named an Outstanding Chapter in the Illinois Region and earned an Outstanding College Project Award and an Outstanding Honors in Action Award.

Lincoln Trail College Prepares for New Student Orientation
Lincoln Trail College is planning to hold orientation sessions for new students and dual credit students as the College prepares for the start of the Fall Semester August 20. Most of the orientation sessions will be conducted online. The orientation sessions are intended for new, incoming students to help with their transition to college says Director of College Access Tona Ambrose. “Orientation is a way for students to meet other students along with faculty and staff, become familiar with campus services, and ask questions about the college-going culture.”

Adam Rotar Named Lincoln Trail College Head Women's Basketball Coach
Adam Rotar was named the Head Women’s Basketball Coach for Lincoln Trail College. Rotar had served as the Assistant Coach for the team since 2016. He replaces Scott Sparks, who stepped down this summer so he could spend more time with his family. “I am excited and thrilled to lead the Lady Statesmen,” says Rotar. “It’s a unique situation to be in now from a different seat, but with the same goals in mind: to rise back to the top of the conference, and to get back to where the program last won a regional championship in 2010.”

NJCAA Honors 32 LTC Student-Athletes, 5 Teams for Academics
The NJCAA honored 32 Lincoln Trail College student-athletes for their work in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year. They also recognized five LTC teams for their academic achievements. Four student-athletes earned NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors. Volleyball player Sydni Bailey, golfer Jordan Hosick, baseball player Joey Perkins, and volleyball player Emily Yocom all achieved a 4.0 GPA to earn first-team honors.
