Lincoln Trail College is expanding opportunities for lifelong learning this fall with a variety of Community Education classes designed to engage, educate, and inspire. Courses are open to all community members, with options for in-person and online learning.
In-Person Classes at Lincoln Trail College
- Basic American Sign Language (Sept. 4–25, Thursdays, 6–8 p.m., $45, Learning Commons): This beginner-friendly class introduces students to the alphabet, numbers, greetings, and common phrases in American Sign Language. Participants will also explore everyday conversation skills through interactive practice, helping build confidence in communication
- Eagleton Reading Circle (Fourth Wednesday of each month, 6–8 p.m., free, Learning Commons): Readers gather monthly to discuss a selected book in a welcoming group setting. Titles vary each month and can be checked out from the Eagleton Library, making it easy to join at any time
- Defensive Driving (First Monday of each month, 5:30–7:30 p.m., $87, Broadband Building): Taught using National Safety Council curriculum, this course helps drivers improve their skills, reduce risks, and meet requirements for court referrals, workplace safety, or personal improvement
- Jazz Band (Tuesdays, 6–9 p.m., free, Lackey Music Hall): Open to musicians of all levels, the LTC Jazz Band rehearses weekly and prepares for community performances. Participants may also enroll for college credit at standard tuition and fee rates
- Community Choir (Mondays, 6–9 p.m., free, Lackey Music Hall): Singers of all backgrounds are invited to join this ensemble, which performs throughout the semester. The choir provides a chance to build community while sharing a love of music. College credit enrollment is available
