Lincoln Trail College is proud to welcome Abby Holdreith as its new Speech and English Instructor.
Holdreith’s path to LTC has been paved with dedication to the field of education. A native of Olney, Illinois, she knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in teaching, inspired by several family members who were administrators.
After attending Olney Central College, Holdreith graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. From there, she started her teaching career.
"This is my first year at LTC but twelfth in education," she shares. Her journey includes three years at Selmavile School in Salem, two years at Cisne High School, and six years at Richland County High School in her hometown of Olney. During this time, Holdreith also earned her Master's degree from Eastern Illinois University and began teaching dual credit courses, with the goal of eventually teaching at the college level.
In her role at LTC, Holdreith is teaching three in-person sections of Speech and two online Composition classes. She emphasizes that her primary responsibilities are "making sure my content is relevant, engaging, and informative for all students."
Holdreith’s life outside the classroom is just as rich and varied as her professional career. She has been married to her husband Ryan for seven years. Ryan, interestingly, has his own connection to LTC, having been a student in the telecommunications program before pursuing a career in emergency medical services. The couple has an 8-year-old son named Reece, who Holdreith describes as loving "all things outdoors: hiking, building, riding his four-wheeler, and soccer."
When she's not in the classroom, Abby indulges in some unique hobbies. "I collect exotic chickens and currently have 30 different breeds," she reveals. Recently, she expanded her farm by adding four Nigerian dwarf goats to her menagerie.
