Lincoln Trail College will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Theater Renaissance project on December 1 at 11 a.m.
“We’re very excited about this project,” says Director of Marketing Chris Forde. “This marks the first new construction on our campus since 1975.”
The new 3,600 square-foot addition to the Zwermann Arts Center will add a new choral room that doubles as a mid-sized lecture hall along with additional practice rooms, an office, and storage spaces.
“This project will have a major impact on the performing arts in Crawford County,” says Forde. “Not only will it enrich the lives of the students attending Lincoln Trail College, but it will also enrich the lives of community members of all ages that take lessons and participate in our choirs and ensembles. It will also help improve the backstage area of the Zwermann Arts Center Theater.”
Since the Theater Renaissance Project launched three years ago, there have already been some improvements in the theater, including new sound and lighting equipment and new curtains.
The new addition to the Zwermann Arts Center is expected to be completed in the early summer of 2021. All of the money for the Theater Renaissance Project was privately raised.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place in the East Entrance Canopy of LTC’s Student Union. The ceremony will also be broadcast live on Lincoln Trail College’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/LincolnTrailCollege.
