Mid-semester Math Classes Start March 15
Did you drop a math class this semester or change your major and need to complete a math course?
Olney Central College is offering MTH 1103 Liberal Arts Math and MTH 1102 College Algebra as 8-week mid-semester courses.
Both classes will be offered in a hybrid format. The hybrid format means that most of the homework and the exams for the courses will be online, while instruction will take place face to face. Students should consult their advisors as they may need to take a placement exam.

OCC Theater Announces Cast for "Smokey Joe's Cafe"
Cast members have been selected for the Olney Central College Theater’s production of “Smokey Joe’s Café.”
Cast members include Dylan Reed, Keegan Tucker, Derek Mason, Andrew Flynn, Warren Weitkamp, Summer Culpepper, Sophia Ranes, Ashlie Zwilling and Jessica McDonald.
“Smokey Joe’s Café” features the familiar songs of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller in a musical revue.
Performances dates will be announced soon.

OCC Fall 2020 Academic Honors
OLNEY, Ill. — Outstanding students at Olney Central College have been named to the academic honors lists for the Fall 2020 Semester.
Students named to the Chancellor’s List have attained a grade point average of 3.90 or higher, on a 4.0 scale. Those on the President’s List have achieved a grade point average between 3.75 and 3.89, while those students named to the Dean’s List have earned a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.74.

OCC Theater Hosting Video Auditions for 'Smokey Joe's Cafe'
The Olney Central College Theater is hosting video auditions for its spring production of “Smokey Joe’s Café.”
Auditions are open to adults and high school students. Submissions must include 30 to 60 seconds of a 1950s or 1960s song and a dance video. The dance sequence, an audition example and details for submitting videos are available on the OCC Theater website at www.iecc.edu/occtheater.

OCC Receives Recertification from National Center for Competency Testing
Olney Central College’s eligibility to allow students to complete testing for certification as medical office assistants and coding and insurance specialists has been renewed through 2025 by the National Center for Competency Testing.
The NCCT is an independent credentialing organization that has tested healthcare professionals across the nation since 1989. OCC has been recognized as an authorized NCCT school for more than a decade.

Beginning & Advanced Upholstery Classes Start January 14
Have a chair you want to restore or a boat seat that needs refurbished?
Olney Central College is offering a beginning upholstery class that can get you started. Instructor Mike Rennier said this project-oriented course is ideal for anyone who has a small item they want to recover.
“We’ll start with the very basics,” said Rennier, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the field. “Students will learn how to tear apart, lay out and put an item back together.”

Spring Woodworking Classes Start January 12
Olney Central College will offer beginning and advanced woodworking courses during the spring semester.
TRA 1604 Woodworking I, TRA 1605 Woodworking II and TRA 1606 Woodworking III will all meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the West Richland Center in Noble, beginning Jan. 12.
Instructor Kyle Kuenstler will assist students in completing a project of their choice.
Tuition for this course is reduced for residents of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District who are taking four semester hours or less in the IECC District.

Home Electrical Wiring Class Begins January 11
Olney Central College is offering a spring semester course that can help you complete wiring projects around the house including changing outlets, replacing switches and installing new lights.
TRA 1221 Electrical Wiring addresses various electrical circuits found in the home as well as low-voltage circuits, cable connections, networking and doorbells. Students will learn to identify electrical outlet symbols used in the plans of a single-family dwelling as well as how to identify the grounded and ungrounded conductors in cable or conduit.
