Are you looking to enroll in a degree or certificate program at Olney Central College?  We would love to have you join us! Our advisors are here to help you every step of the way, from program and career exploration to graduation day and beyond.

Before enrolling in a degree or certificate program, students must first schedule an appointment with an academic advisor through OCC Student Services. Advisement is an essential step in college education to make informed and educated decisions. Advisors also ensure you are earning all necessary credits to apply toward your chosen degree or certificate program.

Amanda Nelson

Amanda Nelson joined Olney Central College as an academic advisor in 2023. She assists career and technical as well as dual credit students.

Amanda previously worked with students in the TRIO Programs at Illinois Eastern Community Colleges for 10 years. She initially served with Talent Search before joining Upward Bound in 2016. She served as a counselor and later coordinator for the program.

Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in social work from St. Louis University.

Jodi Schneider

Jodi Schneider joined Olney Central College as an advisor/recruiter in 2019. She advises transfer students and all athletes.

An employee of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District since September 2003, Jodi worked nine years with IECC Talent Search before joining TRIO Upward Bound as a counselor. She served as the program’s coordinator from 2017 to 2019.

Jodi is a graduate of North Clay High School and OCC, where she was a student athlete playing both basketball and softball for the Lady Knights. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Illinois University. She completed her student teaching at Newton High School, where she served as a teacher for three years.

As OCC’s recruiter, she visits area high schools, working to increase OCC’s profile in the surrounding communities. She also represents OCC at college fairs and inter-district events.

Wain Davis

Wain has worked as the director of the TRIO SSS program for IECC since 2013. Additionally, he is an academic counselor for TRIO students at Olney Central College. Wain has a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Greenville University and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Media Arts and Animation from the Illinois Institute of Arts - Schamburg. Wain’s view on education is, “I believe that through education we can make our world better. This is why I have dedicated my life and career to education. I strive each day to help the next generation to learn from my successes as well as my failures.”

TRIO Student Support Services is a 100% federally funded program from the U.S. Department of Education that works to serve income eligible, first-generation students, and/or students with special needs to be academically successful.

Linda Horn

Advisor Allied Health — Nursing, Radiography & CNA

Linda has been at Olney Central College for 25 years. She has been advising students since 2011. She advises nursing and pre-nursing, radiography and pre-radiography, and CNA students. She evaluates placement test scores, in addition to proctoring pre-admission testing, advises students of impact on ranking and/or remediation options, registers and keeps students on track for their program. Linda also organizes Nursing Information Sessions for ranking requirements, updates student progression files, tracks nursing students’ online documentation forms, in addition to working with the nursing agencies’ requirements. Linda holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Administrative Support from Olney Central College.
