Nucor Skyline Donates to Lincoln Trail College Welding Program
Lincoln Trail College’s Welding program recently received a generous donation from Nucor Skyline, further strengthening the partnership between the college and industry leaders.
The donation will provide critical resources for the Welding program, specifically supporting the purchase of steel used in lab and hands-on training portions of the welding classes. The contribution comes in response to discussions during a recent Welding advisory committee meeting, where industry partners were made aware of the rising costs of materials and equipment.

LTC Alumnus Named to Indiana Basketball HOF 2025 Silver Anniversary Team
A Lincoln Trail College basketball player has been honored by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors honored Ron Dokes (’02) as a member of the 2025 Men’s Silver Anniversary Team.
Dokes, a 6-9 forward, was a McDonald’s All-American nominee, AP honorable mention All-state, IBCA honorable mention All-State, first team all-Northern Indiana Conference, and South Bend Tribune first-team All-Metro player his senior season at South Bend Riley. He averaged 16.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.5 blocks that season.

When Cy wasn’t drafted into the professional league, his path seemed to hit a dead end.

Intelligent.com, a widely recognized source for higher education rankings and research, has included Lincoln Trail College in its annual assessment, awarding it The Best Community Colleges for 2025. In their rankings of the Top 50 Community Colleges in the United States, LTC was ranked 40th.

Trick or Treat at the Trail Returns October 24, 2024
Lincoln Trail College’s beloved Trick or Treat at the Trail is returning this year on October 24 from 4-6 p.m. The year’s event will return to its roots and become an indoor event.
“We had a lot of success with this event outside the last two years,” said Illinois Eastern Community College’s Director of Marketing Chris Forde. “We’re excited now to bring the event back inside for the first time since 2019.”

Emily McColpin Becomes Peer Leader
Lincoln Trail College student Emily McColpin has been named the College’s first Peer Support Leader. In her position, she will work closely with Mental Health Specialist Holly O’Brien to build awareness of mental health issues, services, and programs to support student wellbeing and growth.
“I decided to be a peer support leader because I value that everyone goes through hard times, and sometimes we just need someone to talk to,” said McColpin. “As a student myself, I can see how it may be intimidating to talk to an adult rather than someone around my age.”
