Olney Central College Theater will present three performances of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play December 16-18 at the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.
What is a live radio play? Set in a 1940s-style radio studio, live actors on stage will be “radio actors” who portray the characters in this classic holiday story. The actors will perform as different characters by changing their voices and facial expressions into new personas. They will also play Foley artists and create live sound effects right before your eyes. This special combination of a live radio show and a play will give audiences a unique experience through both sight and sound.
Performances for It’s a Wonderful Life are Friday, December 16, and Saturday, December 17, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 18, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $13 and go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5. All seating is reserved, and tickets can be purchased online at www.iecc.edu/occ/theater. This show is sponsored by First National Bank.
