Olney Central College’s Cosmetology Program is accepting new students for spring semester classes.
Students enrolled in Cosmetology participate in both classroom and clinical experiences. The program focuses on all facets of the industry, including hair shaping, skin care, makeup, permanent waving, shampooing, scalp treatments, hair styling and chemical hair relaxing. Pedicures, manicures, massage and shop management also are covered.
Cosmetology is a growing field perfect for those who want to express their creativity, said Director of Cosmetology Courtney Meadows. More than 60 different career opportunities are available to licensed cosmetologists. Graduates can even choose to operate their own businesses.
Completion of the program qualifies students to take a state examination for registration as a licensed cosmetologist in the state of Illinois. Qualified students, who begin the program in January, will be able to complete their certificates by December 2022.
