With the construction of the Theater Renaissance Project underway and continued COVID-19 restrictions in place, the Lincoln Trail College Theater Department is making some changes to its spring production. Director Tara Gallion says instead of a typical on-stage production like in years past, this year there is going to be a collection of skits in a production playfully titled “Culture in a Cornfield.”

“This will be a lighthearted collection of short comedy skits,” says Gallion. “It will also be completely pre-recorded.”

Gallion says she’s hoping to include as many people as possible in the variety of skits. She says it is a great chance for people who have always wanted to try theater but have maybe been intimidated by being in front of a crowd or who don’t have the time to commit to a larger production.

Auditions for Culture in a Cornfield are on January 18 and 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Zwermann Arts Center Theater. Audition packets are available online at iecc.edu/ltc/student-life/arts-culture/culture-cornfield

Since the show will be taped in advance, theater patrons will be able to purchase an online ticket that will give them an access code to watch the show. “Additionally, we intend to offer in-person tickets for watch parties at the Theater if COVID guidelines allow for that.”

Gallion says the plan is to return to performing regular productions in the theater with live audiences as soon as possible.
