Human and Behavioral Health

Overview

Students in the WVC Human and Behavioral Health program prepare for entry-level careers in professional human services and prepare to obtain a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling and others. Students learn basic social service theories and practice applying these theories in their field.

Those seeking to obtain a degree in this field should have a strong desire to be of service to others. Individuals who show patience, compassion, and genuine kindness in their dealings with others are highly valued by employers in social services-related professions.

The Human and Behavioral Health Program at Wabash Valley College provides students the opportunity to attend professional conferences and trainings where they'll  receive certificates of completion.

Human and Behavioral Health students attend three professional conferences per year. These conferences provide learning opportunities for students, exposure to networking, and collaboration/continuing education in this field.

Professional human service workers provide a variety of services aimed at improving clients’ lives. The type of assistance they offer varies by client group, the type of organization that employs these workers, and their role within the organization.
