Meet the Warriors Night

Aug 12, 2025

Mount Carmel, IL — Wabash Valley College invites the community to come out and celebrate Meet the Warriors Night on Tuesday, September 10, at the Spencer Sports Center. The event kicks off at 5:30 PM and leads into an exciting volleyball matchup against Lincoln Trail College at 6:30 PM.

This annual tradition brings together students, athletes, families, and community members for an evening of food, fun, and school spirit. Outside the gym, guests can enjoy hot dogs and pork burgers, while getting an up-close look at the Bass Fishing Team’s wrapped boats—a favorite feature of the night.

Rachel Refenes, WVC Volleyball Coach and Student Life Coordinator, shared her enthusiasm:

“This event has been a lot of fun and a big success. It happens in September and brings attention to the Bass Team and Archery we have at Wabash. Todd’s guys do a great job meeting people and talking about their boats and team. I look forward to this event each year and love hearing volleyball fans and parents talk about the boats and food.”

Todd Gill, Bass Fishing Team Coach and WVC instructor, added:

“The WVC Bass Team loves being a part of Meet the Warriors Night. It’s a great evening for the community to come out and meet many of the student athletes for the fall season and to see some of our wrapped boats that we compete out of. Most important to us is helping to get a big crowd out in support of our volleyball team. All of the sports teams expect and are striving for excellence. Having support from the community and other sports teams on campus is something that can level-up the student experience at Wabash Valley College.”

Samantha Newkirk, Executive Director of the WVC Foundation, also expressed support:

“The Foundation is glad to come alongside an already successful event.”

Meet the Warriors Night is open to the public and promises a great time for all ages. Come hungry, bring your school spirit, and help cheer on the Warriors!
