To help students succeed in their college experience, the Academic Success Center helps meet academic needs through tutoring, placement testing, developmental classes, ABE/ASE classes, disability services, and testing services.
The Academic Success Center, located in room 41 of the Science Building, provides assistance when a student may be having difficulty with classwork or simply wants an extra set of eyes to double-check their work. Preparatory courses are offered through the Academic Success Center in Math, English, and Reading, as well as Adult Education classes for those who may be seeking their GED before becoming a WVC student.
Nearly every student experiences difficulty in one or multiple classes during their collegiate education. If you begin to feel discouraged at any point in your time at WVC, consider making contact with the staff of the Academic Success Center. These staff members are trained and prepared to help students through academic challenges in every WVC area of study.
Students with special needs such as learning disabilities or physical disabilities are encouraged to inquire about accommodations in the Academic Success Center as well. By providing a copy of their IEP/504 Plan, students may be able to receive many of the same classroom accommodations they received in high school.
The Academic Success Center is open daily, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The center is not open on weekends or college holidays.
