Gain Control of Your Personal Finances with Financial Peace Course

PhotoOlney Central College is offering an online class that can help you gain control of your personal finances as you learn how to get and stay out of debt utilizing financial expert, best-selling author and radio host Dave Ramsey’s principles of financial peace.

“A vast majority of people live paycheck to paycheck,” said Instructor John Kendall. “I’ve seen people who have struggled with their finances for years. They keep making the same bad decisions over and over again because they were never taught the basics. This comprehensive course teaches participants how to become good stewards of the money they work so hard to earn.”

BUS 1198 Topics/Issues in Business (Financial Peace) will cover all aspects of financial planning from establishing a monthly budget to saving and investing for retirement while following Ramsey’s Seven Baby Steps to Financial Peace. Participants will learn the ins and outs of funding 401Ks and Roth IRAs as they learn how to select insurance and make major purchases, such as vehicles and homes, wisely.

The course includes videos — providing additional insight into Ramsey’s common sense approach — which participants can download and watch at their own convenience. Worksheets also are available to assist students as they work through the budgeting and planning process. Kendall stressed this information will remain confidential.

During the course, participants will have the opportunity to engage in roundtable discussions with classmates. The class also will look at various case studies, allowing students to identify financial mistakes and find resolutions.

“It is never too late to start financial planning and this course is tailored to meet individual needs,” Kendall said. “I learn something new every time I listen to Dave’s radio show and I have been listening for 20 years. I really encourage those who want to take control of their finances to join us this fall.”
