LTC Offering Chickens 101 Class

If you’re looking to join the growing trend of owning a small flock of chickens, Lincoln Trail College has the class for you on April 8.

The Chickens 101 class will cover the basics of keeping a small flock of chickens, about 30 or fewer. The class covers topics like basic chicken physiology, baby chick care, equipment needs and recommendations, shelter needs, feeding, basic health management, and hygiene and cleanliness methods.

The instructor is Robyn Morton, associate director of White Violet Center for Eco-Justice at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. She coordinates the internship, volunteer, herbalism and chicken programs.

The group will leave Lincoln Trail College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, and return at 4:00 p.m., CST. Participants may bring a sack lunch or snack for the ride. Transportation by college van is provided, or you may meet us there. The class runs from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Eastern standard time.
