FCC Offering Kid Camps for Summer 2020

As the State of Illinois begins the process of reopening this summer, children will be anxious to venture outside and partake in fun activities.  In an effort to provide entertaining and educational outlets for young learners, Frontier Community College (FCC) has planned several kid camps for the month of July.  Initially scheduled for June, all classes have been pushed back by a month to follow the Restore Illinois guidelines.

To help families in the community during this crisis, FCC has lowered the cost of all classes and will now charge a flat rate of $10 per child, per class.  All supplies and expenses have been offset by a generous local community grant that FCC recently received from the Fairfield WalMart.  Registration is now open, and classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Please call FCC at 618-842-3711 to sign your child up over the phone.  Payment and a signed liability form will be taken when parents and children arrive for the class.

Frontier’s baseball and volleyball teams also hope to hold camps, and more information will be released at a later date.

Bath Bombs for Kids – Tuesday, July 14

Complete your own fizzy bath bombs, complete with crazy colors and scents of your choice!  Kids will learn how to mix the ingredients, prepare the molds, and take home supplies for future use at home.  The class is open to grades 5-8 and will be held in Mason Hall 23 from 9:00-10:30AM.

Canvas Paint Party – Monday, July 13

FCC is offering a paint party for community kids!  Instructor Cheryl Harl will walk students through the guided process of painting an 11x14 canvas to create a pre-selected image. The class will use acrylic paint, so students should wear clothing that they do not mind getting dirty or stained.  Canvas Paint Party is open to grades 4-8 and will be held in Mason Hall 23 from 9:00-11:00AM.

 Art Attack I & II – Wednesday, July 15

Express your imagination with fun and creative art projects!  Instructor Cheryl Harl will teach kids about different types of art, and campers will use multiple methods to create drawings, paintings, and more. All supplies are included.

Level I (Grades 1-4): 8:00AM-11:30AM

Level II (Grades 5-8): 12:30PM-4:00PM

Sign Language – Thursday, July 16

 T-Shirt Tie-Dye – Thursday, July 16

Create a customized, colorful T-shirt that can be worn all summer long!  Kids will learn how to tie a unique pattern and add vibrant colors of their choice.  The camp is open to grades 2-6 and will be held from 1:00-3:00PM in Mason Hall 23.  All supplies are included.
