FCC's Community Education Offering Christmas Workshops

The holiday season is just around the corner, and Frontier Community College is offering fun, one-day workshops to prepare for Christmas.  Classes will allow interested individuals to sharpen their skills and impress friends and family with their creations.  FCC will be offering the following workshops: Snowman Table Runner, Gift Wrapping, and Christmas Cupcakes.

The Snowman Table Runner workshop will be held on Saturday, November 10.  Students will meet in Bob Boyles Hall from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with instructor Gayla Templeman, and the class is open to both beginning and advanced learners.  Templeman will have pre-assembled kits ready for students, and everyone will create the same project.  The cost of the class is $55.

For those who struggle to wrap Christmas presents, a Gift Wrapping workshop will be led by Kirsten Melton on Monday, December 3.  The workshop costs $15 per student and will be held in Bob Boyles Hall from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Students can choose from a contemporary or traditional style, and Melton will cover the basics of measuring, folding, taping, bows, and more.  Supplies will be provided, but students should bring two or three small to medium-sized gifts to practice their wrapping skills.

Are you seeking new ideas for sweet treats to bring to your upcoming holiday parties?  Instructors Julie Bryant and Heather Nelson will lead a Christmas Cupcakes workshop on Wednesday, December 5.  The class will meet from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Bob Boyles Hall, and the cost of the class is $20.  Students will try their hand at coloring frosting, pastry bag techniques, piping methods, and holiday-themed decorations.  Each student will take home 6 tasty cupcakes and recipe cards for future use.

Registration is still open for Christmas With the College, in which FCC will lead a group by charter bus to Evansville for an evening of entertainment on Thursday, December 13.  The $95 package includes a guided tour of the Reitz Home Museum, dinner at Cork ‘N Cleaver, a drive through Garvin Park’s Fantasy of Lights, and a holiday musical performance at the Old National Events Plaza.  The deadline to reserve a seat is Monday, November 19.

To sign up for any of the holiday workshops or trip to Evansville, call FCC at 618-842-3711, or visit their Student Services office between 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.  Class sizes are limited and filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so students are encouraged to register soon.
