Illinois Eastern Community Colleges

            Illinois Eastern Community College Board of Trustees approved a Student-Athlete Substance Abuse Testing policy at the regular meeting Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel.  The Board indicated concern about the health, safety and welfare of the District’s student-athletes who represent college institutions.  The Board adopted a drug screening policy for student-athlete requiring random drug testing, using approved in­-district facilities.

                The Board tabled a proposed policy dealing with the hiring of family members as employees of the District.  The issue will be considered again at the next Board meeting scheduled for August 19.

Updates to the 2014-2015 IECC Catalog were reviewed and approved for publication

The Board approved a report on compliance with Drug Free Schools and Campus

Regulations.  The Board certified  that the district has adopted an implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. IECC’s 2014 biennial review identified recommendations which will maintain the effectiveness of the program by regular review and update to IECC’s website to ensure the accuracy and availability of information pertinent to alcohol, drugs, treatment and resources.  The Board approved the 2014 Biennial Review Report. 

The Board approved the commitment of $82,333 in funds to complete the Wabash Valley College Chemistry Lab Capital Development Board project, as well as, approved $18,100 for contingencies that would be returned to the District if not utilized.

            The Board approved the submission of application and board resolution to the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) for acceptance of West Richland High School property into the calculation of IECC’s assignable square footage. The WRHS building contains approximately 54,475 square feet.

            Illinois Eastern Community Colleges has been awarded $20,524 for the purchase and installation of an Interoperable Communications Facility/Public Paging/Alerting System at Lincoln Trail College through an Illinois School and Campus Safety Grant agreement with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. This system will include one main connection with fifty-eight speakers strategically placed in classrooms and high traffic areas around campus and will enhance the existing emergency alert system.  The Board approved the acceptance of the IEMA grant.

The Board approved the extension of the existing Central Area Tax Increment Finance District (Fairfield TIF #1) agreement with the City of Fairfield. The 12 year extension, with a date of 2027,  provides a total term of 35 years.

Three affiliation agreements were approved dealing with Electronic Medical Records Program, Medical Office Careers and Medical Assistant Program.

Megan Scott was employed as Assistant Dean of Student Services at Lincoln Trail College, effective July 31, 2014.

Kristin Selph was employed as Retention Coordinator at Lincoln Trail College, effective July 17, 2014.

Katherine Fehrenbacher was employed as Program Advisor, Educational Talent Search, District Office, effective July 28, 2014.

Robert Tennyson was employed as Library Assistant at Frontier Community College, effective July 17, 2014.

Cynthia Westendorf was employed as Help Desk/Computer Technician at District Office, effective July 17, 2014.

Jervaise McDaniel change in status from Associate Dean of Adult & Continuing Education at Frontier Community College to Associate Dean of Outreach at District Office, effective September 1, 2014.

Marsha Humphrey change in status from Coordinator of the Academic Assistance Center at Wabash Valley College to Director of the Learning Skills Center at Wabash Valley College, effective July 16, 2014.

Leslie Slankard change in status from Program Advisor, Educational Talent Search at District Office to Transition/Data Technician at Frontier Community College/(OCC), effective July 28, 2014.

Special Assignment was approved for Kristin Selph as Assistant Volleyball Coach at Lincoln Trail College.

Non-College Employment was approved for Brenda Grove.

Resignation ratification was approved for Mark Elliott, Coordinator of Instructional Services at Frontier Community College, effective June 20, 2014.

Resignation ratification was approved for Adam Porter, Broadcast Services Specialist at Wabash Valley College, effective July 12, 2014.
