Online Early Childhood Classes Offered at WVC

Wabash Valley College is offering four online early childhood classes Spring Semester which will be taught by Carla Cadwalader. 

Childhood Teaching Techniques I, ECD 1202 will include exploration of various stimulating teaching techniques to foster the optimum physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of young children. Methods will concentrate on preschool age children although activities for infants and toddlers will be discussed. All curriculum areas will be covered, but lesson plan work will be emphasizing literature, language, art and music. 

Health and Safety of Children, ECD 1203 will deal with issues that affect the health of children. It includes nutrition, hygiene, diseases, protection, first aid and safety. Laws and standards governing early childhood facilities are examined.

Childhood Teaching Techniques II, ECD 1204 will explore teaching techniques which foster optimum physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of young children. Methods of teaching preschool children are stressed although activities for infants and toddlers are discussed. All curricula will be covered, including literature, mathematics, all sciences, social studies, the arts, physical education, and computer activities.

Administering Childhood Facilities, ECD 2201 topics include state agencies and regulations, public relations, selecting and managing staff, selecting space and equipment, managing money and monitoring programming.
