OCC Music Department Winter Concert Feb. 17-18

Band PhotoThe Olney Central College Music Department presents its Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature performances from the OCC Concert Band, Concert Choir and Jazz Ensemble.

The Concert Band will perform works based on the season theme of “Stages.” This concert will feature stages of the evolution of the American people, including the works “Invincible,” by Robert W. Smith, and “A House Divided,” based on a speech given by Abraham Lincoln in 1858, before the Civil War.

The OCC Concert Choir will present the Old Testament story of Jephte, a dramatic Oratorio composed by Giacomo Carissimi. In addition to chorus, the drama will feature numerous student solos, duets, and trios from within the Concert Choir.

The OCC Jazz Ensemble will continue to explore bop and the blues with works from Cedar Walton and Miles Davis.

Admission is $5 and tickets are available at the door. Student admission is free.
