Carmack Named Director of Music

Rebecca Carmack has been named the new Director of Music and Performing Arts Coordinator at Lincoln Trail College.

Carmack holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Music Theory and Composition and a master’s degree in choral and orchestral conducting from Eastern Illinois University.

Prior to her arrival at Lincoln Trail College, Carmack operated a private voice and piano studio and taught 5th through 12th grade band.

While at EIU, Carmack gained experience working with many of the university’s ensembles, including Eastern Symphonic Orchestra, the Concert Choir, and the early music ensemble, Camerata.

Among the works she conducted are Tomas Luis de Victoria’s Ave Maria, Kevin A. Memley’s O My Luve’s Like a Red, Red Rose, and Franz Doppler’s Fantasie Pastorale Hongrois Flute Concerto. Rebecca was also a featured soprano soloist with the ESO for major works such as the “Pie Jesu” from Faure’s Requiem and “Rejoice, Greatly” from Handel’s Messiah.
