LTC Offering Martial Arts Classes

Lincoln Trail College will offer martial arts classes for adults and children this fall. The college has also added a pair of special one night classes.

The new Parent/Child Try-It! class takes place from 6-6:50 p.m. on Aug. 24 at LTC’s Activity Annex. The class will give parent-child pairs a chance to sample Karate. The cost for the pair is $10 and children should be at least five-years-old to participate.

On Aug. 31 at 6 p.m., LTC will offer a Self Defense for Women class. The class will help empower women with self-defense techniques that can help protect them from danger. The cost of the one-night class is $10 and that fee is waived for full-time Lincoln Trail College students.

The college will once again offer Karate for Kids I and II this fall. Karate for Kids is open to area youth ages five-and-up. Karate for Kids I meets Mondays from 6-6:50 p.m. in the Activity Annex beginning Sept. 12 while Karate for Kids II meets from 7-8:50 p.m. Mondays beginning Aug. 22.

Karate for Kids covers basic martial arts concepts, self-defense and movement in a program that will provide students improved confidence and self-esteem. The instructor brings many years of instruction to the classroom and will provide a fun atmosphere for the kids.

Tae Kwon Do classes begin Aug. 22. The classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-8:50 p.m. The cost is $90.
