LTC Ranks 2nd Among Illinois Community Colleges
USA Today has listed Lincoln Trail College as the number two community college in Illinois.
In the rankings, USA Today cited Lincoln Trail College’s strong graduation rate and affordability as two of the college’s strongest points. The average net price for students receiving federal financial aid is the best in the state. LTC also stood out as one of the best online community colleges in Illinois. LTC has the third-highest percentage of distance education students in the state.
USA Today also highlighted the fact that the average age of students enrolled during the fall 2014 semester was 30.5. They say that means other non-traditional students will find a number peers just like them.
“This is truly an honor,” says LTC President Kathy Harris. “Our faculty and staff work hard every day to put our students first and this shows that is paying off. We’re very proud to offer a high quality education at an affordable price and it is a wonderful feeling to see that our efforts are being recognized.”
USA Today ranked 48 schools in Illinois belonging to the Illinois Community College System. The colleges were scored on a ten-point scale based on the percent of students enrolled in distance education, the cost of attendance, student-to-faculty ratio, average retention rate for full- and part-time students, graduation rate, transfer rate to a senior institution, and flexibility score.
In addition to the ranking by USA Today, Lincoln Trail College is also an Aspen Prize Top 150 U.S. Community College.
