LTC Grad Jennifer Parker- Hospital House Supervisor
On any given day, you’ll find Jennifer Parker roaming the halls of Crawford Memorial Hospital.
Everything must be in place. All departments must have adequate staffing. Proper patient care is a must.
If any department has medication needs, very sick patients, or patient concerns in the absence of administration, this R.N. is on it.
It’s part of her responsibility as the house supervisor. “My typical day includes receiving reports from the supervisor I’m relieving, rounding on each department, and getting updates on patients that are currently in the hospital,” Parker said. “I also round on patients to make sure they are happy with the care they are getting.” It’s a big responsibility.
Prior to her position at CMH, the Robinson resident had an equally stressful job – she was an emergency room R.N. at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
The graduate of the Olney Central College nursing program at Lincoln Trail College felt said she was well-equipped for a career in her chosen field.
“I was very prepared and ready to join the workforce,” she said. “I chose LTC because I knew several people who had graduated from LTC and spoke highly of it. It was also located close to home.”
In addition to location, she said she also appreciated the small campus and the opportunities small class sizes afforded her.
“My experience there was great! I really enjoyed the program and made some great friends. My instructor, Carole Fuscoe, was very knowledgeable. You could tell she had a true passion for her profession and it showed in her teaching.”
